Segments renamed Groups
Prior to this release, Engage referred to subsets of supporters as "segments." We opted to change their name to "groups" because our CRM uses that term and we decided that it made good sense to have the nomenclature match - that and the fact that "groups" is a clear and reasonable name for a subset. You'll notice this change when you click into the Supporters tab as shown below.
Supporter Query Tool
The Supporter Query tool provides a user-friendly way to identify your supporters based on their activity history, group membership, or a host of other data points. Being able to segment your supporters is critically important to providing them with messaging that’s compelling and relevant. Using the Supporter Query tool, you can drill down on your list with deep precision. In addition to modifying and creating groups for email messaging, you are also able to export supporter query data through this tool.
Location: Supporters > Query
Create a Supporter Query
To run your query, choose which fields you'd like returned (or simply keep the default fields; First Name, Last Name, Email, City and State) and click Show Results. You'll want to spot check and if they appear as you expected, you have a few options.
If you'd like to take action with the results, click on Query Options as seen below. For more details on query actions, click here.
Note that while the Query tool is not located in the Messaging > Email workflow, you will be navigated to the Supporter Query tool if during the creation of an Email you have not yet created the target Group you'd like to use. In this case, you will choose to create a Group on the the fly and will not lose your work, you'll be taken through the steps to create the Group you like via the Query tool and will land right back in the Email creation workflow once that Group is chosen.
